A Newry Soldier in East Africa 1916 - 1918

Newry and Mourne Museum will host John Bannon who will talk about his grandfather, John Bannon, who served in the King's African Rifles during the First World War, in the lecture "A Newry Soldier in East Africa 1916 - 1918"

His grandfather kept a detailed diary including being present at the surrender of the German forces led by General Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck at Abercorn (now Mbala) in November 1918.

Tea and coffee will be served after the lecture.
